An Inspiration of mine - Dan Schneider

Someone who really inspires me in the movie making world is actually someone that many people don't know. If you watch any Nickelodeon shows, you might be familiar with the name "Schneider" that pops up at the end of almost all of the shows. Dan Schneider is a writer-director-producer of almost all of the television shows on Nickelodeon.

/pmwiki.php/Main/DanSchneider
Although I don't watch those shows anymore, I got interested in finding out who this guy was. Some of his shows that he's made are: iCarly, Drake and Josh, Victorious, Zoey 101, The Amanda Show, and much more. In almost any of those shows, his comes up in conversations for shoe companies, movie theaters, and even a helicopter making company. When I was little, I used to watch Drake and Josh all the time. I went online and researched Dan, and found out he was creator of tons of shows on Nickelodeon. I was amazed to see that all of these shows were connected and even had some of the same kinds of drama or comedy.

Dan is an inspiration to me because I have always wanted to become a producer-writer-director of shows just like him. Even though many people don't notice his name, he is one of the main reasons the television station Nickelodeon is so popular.

Big News in Movie Making

So far, there has been a bunch of movies being thrown out into theaters, but not all of them make the cut. I think one movie that seems to be bringing a lot of attention to the media world is the new Hunger Games movie. People seem to be getting excited about this upcoming movie and are already scavenging for any trailers or 'sneak peaks' they can find.

The movie seems to be bringing a lot of attention to it because of its bestselling book. I'm excited to see how it comes out. I think that the director, Gary Ross, will bring about the goods of this movie. Unfortunately, I feel that just like the Harry Potter movies, this movie will NOT be like the book and will be forgotten soon after the final movie is made. Don't get me wrong, I liked the Harry Potter movies and loved the Hunger Games books, but there is a fine line between books and movie making. There are a lot of limitations in this movie making world.

The last thing I have to say is, after all my cliché criticism, that I am very excited to watch this movie, and look forward to enjoying not only this one, but the next ones as well. That is, if they decide to make them.

Important Person in Media History - Walt Disney

http://louisandlouissoundsystem.files.

Walt Disney was one of the largest impacts in the media world. His first creation was a mouse named Mortimer. Unfortunately, the idea never survived and Mortimer became Mickey. Disney was a very imaginative man and an inspiration to many. His ideas started small and became big very quickly.

Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Chicago, Illinois. He started a small animation studio in 1922 where he and his partner made advertisements for local movie theaters. He came up with ideas for many television shows and movies, which is why he is perfect for a role model. His contributions to society were simple. Family-oriented shows and movies that would be old-time favorites for years to come. He believed in comedy all his life and was a very intelligent man. One thing that really stands out about his directing and view on his works are the personalities he sent into every one of his characters. Walt inspired many people to follow in his footsteps, and seemed to be the stepping stone into modern day film-making and television shows. Also, Disney was framed in history as one of the greatest people in the media world.

Some of his works include: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, Fantasia, Dumbo, Bambi, Cinderella, Treasure Island, Alice in Wonderland, and much much more. Walt Disney was a very intelligent and happy man, who gave so much for his love for what he did. This is why he makes such a great role model, and is remembered years after his time.

Getting Started

For anyone who feel like they are interested in this topic, read this post about getting started. There are many things to consider when starting movie making. It is better to start small. Even a home movie with family or friends would be a great start. Get yourself used to equipment (such as a camera) before starting anything big.

First, find out what interests you in movie making. There are four big things that you could pick:
1. Script writing (writing the story and laying out how the story works, the setting, place, and also time)
2. Filming (taking scenes of the movie, reading them out, and filming how the script is written)
3. Editing (taking all the scenes filmed and pasting them together, this is usually the 'final cut' or last step)
4. Directing (being the leader of the movie, changing the script, telling to film from a certain angle are all good)

This isn't just movies though, all television shows work this way as well. The important thing to remember is that the scenes aren't filmed one after another. The last scene could be the first filmed! After choosing what you like (which for me is all of the above) start looking into the topic more. Directing is easy for me because I have good leadership skills, and it is nice to have control of everything and everyone there. Filming isn't too hard, you are the artist behind the camera, so just do what the director says and you are golden. Script writing is very fun for people who like writing stories, making plots, and just being imaginative. Think of anything in the world and you can make something from it! Editing is a very important task in the movie, because you take everything gathered and make something of it. You may put in background music, add sound effects, or just paste scenes together.

If you are only interested in one of these (which is completely normal) get some friends together, one with an interest for each topic, and you have a team! Go with it and make some great movies. One more thing, when making a movie or television show, there is no limit to what you can do or what you can make. Also, there is no specific 'equipment' for this topic. All you need is a camera. But if you are editing, a great thing to have is iMovie or 'Final Cut' from Apple products (of course there are others, but in my opinion they are the best).

What interests me about this topic

The thing that interests me about this subject is how different anything in media is. There are all different types of topics and many different twists and turns. What really interests me is watching through the directors eyes how each television/movie was played out. I like to watch new movies/shows to see how they feel the plot should go. For me, it's just nice to follow the plot of a story, because it is a lot more in depth than a lot of people think it is.

I have been interested in television and movies my whole life. I recently attended a movie school during the summer and that's when I really understood how movie making and television works. We worked on making movies, writing scripts, and even acting games to see things through the actor's eyes. My friends enjoy some of the things that I like in movie making (such as technology or script writing) but I feel I am the only one who enjoys everything to do with the making of movies/t.v. shows.

Introduction

Hello and welcome to my blog. My name is Luke, I am 14 years old and I go to Scarborough High School in Maine. I created this blog because I enjoy television shows and movies.

Media is enjoyable for me because it's fun to see how things were thought out and made. Movies and television shows are not just a story, they have large plots and twists and turns that interest me. I wrote this blog because it enables me to really get into watching movies and television shows, and I get to understand and share my experiences with my followers. Even though my opinion may not be like yours, everyone's opinion counts and everyone should be acknowledged for their view on movies and/or television shows.
